I thought you might enjoy a light-hearted, escapist game about scenting old Hollywood and modern rock star celebrities. Obviously, much of it is subjective, but I do include what some stars actually wore, when known, whether it was from Creed, Caron, Guerlain, Coty, Chanel, or other houses.
The last few years have been extremely difficult and exhausting for everyone so sometimes I like to do escapist threads on Twitter to distract one away from the news. Whether it’s gorgeous libraries from around the world, the mysteries of the deepest part of the sea, or art masterpieces from great museums, the threads help me as much as others in providing a glimmer of light amidst frustrating hard times.
This is one of those threads.
1. Scenting Old Hollywood (THREAD) – scenting famous celebs or film characters, per someone's request.
Obvs, it's subj. fantasy, but I thought it would be a fun game.
I'll list an actor & scent association (of any era) or real signature scent, & you join in w/ yr ideas. Ready? pic.twitter.com/eXZGnlsz0H

I hope you will feel free, whether here or on Twitter, to join in with what you think certain celebrities might wear. But, on the whole, I just hope you enjoy the thread. Happy Saturday, everyone.
PS — On a slightly related but tangential note, if you’re interested, I once did a fun thread on celebrities in their youth or younger days.
(THREAD) Fun time-line cleanser: Celebrities when they were young.

I’m pretty sure Cary Grant wore Acqua di Parma original scent and that is what I see him wearing or maybe original Eau Sauvage. Liz as Cleo Opium for sure.
Nah, Liz was a Bal à Versailles girl all the way. Michael Jackson, too. Both their signature scents.
So true on that, in fact I’ve heard it said that Liz Taylor was the once who introduced MJ to Bal à Versailles during their courtship.
Liz’s own Passion in some ways pays a tribute to Bal à Versailles, I don’t quite mean they’re similar but they do seem to share a certain vibe.
Also, I must say dear Kafka, I’m a huge fan or your writings and musings, no one quite does ‘synesthesia’ like you.

Great game! I’m so glad to see you toggling between Twitter and WordPress; I love seeing your posts pop up in my news feed here, and you’re such an outstanding writer. I think Vol de Nuit would suit Ava Gardner extremely well. She just seems to have that glamorous free spirit, and certainly she was uniquely beautiful. Gary Cooper: I totally agree with your picks. Eau Sauvage and Lonestar Memories. I might add Knize 10 for him.
P.S. I’ve read on your Twitter posts of the recent travails due to your caregiving for unwell, elderly parents, and the related sibling strife. I’m so very sorry. I hope Apollo is a major distraction, if not always a comfort! Can you get any respite, whether from hiring someone to come in for a weekend, or having your mom go to a day program occasionally? In my dad’s final years, with dementia, the occasional day program was a lifesaver for my mom. Anyway, I’m confident you have researched and explored all available options; but sometimes the caregiver needs someone to say “Do it!” And it seems your siblings might not. Hugs to you.
